The follow-up film from the director of last year's smash hit, The Sixth Sense, is sure to prove a favourite this summer. It's twisting storyline will keep you on the edge of your seat and its ending will totally shock you. Read the Review

grich_outthisweek.jpg (15838 bytes) The Grinch (PG)
Kids/Comedy

Starring: Jim Carrey, Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski
Director: Ron Howard
Released: 30 November 2000

Jim Carrey is at his hilarious best in this movie version of the classic Dr. Suess book, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".  Carrey carries this film with his wonderful performance but there is plenty more to enjoy about this film.  A fun film that is sure to appeal to children and adults alike.   Read the Review

Chicken Run (G)
Animated Comedy

Voices of: Mel Gibson, Julia Sawahla, Miranda Richardson
Directors: Nick Park and Peter Lord
Released: 7 December 2000

The creators of the immensely popular Wallace and Gromit television show (seen here on the A.B.C a few years back) deliver their first featurelength film that shapes as this year's Toy Story 2.  Mel Gibson voices "Rocky", a fly-in American chicken that attempts to help a flock of British chooks escape the hands of their owner who wants to turn them into chicken pies.  May well prove to be the best film of the summer. Sci-Fi

Starring: Val Kilmer, Carrie-Anne Moss, Simon Baker
Director: Antony Hoffman
Released: 7 December 2000

Another "Mars" movie that doesn't look like delivering anything new.  This was filmed in outback Australia and is also notable because it stars Australian, Simon Baker (formerly Simon Baker-Denny) who starred in a few "soaps" here before trying his hand in Hollywood. This looks like typical Sci-Fi fodder.
